Hermannsburg Happenings

2016-06-22 06:00

IT is Kailager time again. As we complete the last week of school for the second term, with reports, music recitals and awards ceremonies coming up, some of our pupils are already looking forward to fun times on camp at this year’s 51st Kailager and this year, we have over a dozen pupils from Hermannsburg attending this very popular camp run by the ELCSA-NT Lutheran Church of South Africa.

For generations children between the ages of 9 and 12 have had the opportunity to make new friends from other Lutheran churches around the country (and have loads of fun) on the old Kaiser farm on Port Edward’s beach front, bequeathed many years ago to the church by Tante Agnes Kaiser, to be used for Kailager.

On Sunday, 3 July, choristers and musicians from all corners of South Africa will descend on Hermannsburg to join conductor Markus Uhl (from Heidelberg, Germany) as our school hosts the annual Schützwoche this year from 3 to 10 July.

This musical time of fellowship will culminate in a concert at the St Peter’s Lutheran church in Greytown on Saturday, 9 July at 5pm. The group will also sing at the Sunday service in Hermannsburg at 10am on 10 July.

We invite the school family to join us at the Hermannsburg congregation’s annual potjiekos competition, which will be held at The Beehive on Saturday, 25 June, starting at 11am with supper available from 5pm. Join us for some tasty food and relaxed company.
