Hermannsburg Happenings

2016-09-07 06:00

THE weather played along superbly for the annual Umvoti athletics meeting, hosted at the school last Saturday, and the athletes did us proud, displaying talent and good sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Greytown Junior School, which finished top of the log, followed by Deutsche Schule Durban, Wartburg-Kirchdorff Schule and Hermannsburg. Ntando Makhaye of Greytown was victor ludorum, and Rachel Bourn of Hermannsburg was victrix ludorum.

Existing records were broken in the boy's U8 50m and the girls' U10 100m, and new records set in the girls' and boys' U9 80m and U7, 70m, as well as the girls' U8, 70m and the U7 and U8 mixed shuttle relays. Thanks to supporters, athletes and coaches for their hard work and effort, which made the day very enjoyable.

Primary school boys played hockey matches at Hermannsburg last Monday, where the U9s played Wembley (2-4) and Wartburg (1-1). The U10s also played Wembley (0-5) and Wartburg (1-2) and the U13s drew 0-0 against both Wembley and Wartburg. On the soccer front, our high-school boys played against Maritzburg Christian School (0-6).

We are looking forward to Where's the Honey?, our primary school play, which will be presented on Wednesday, 14 September. Grade Rs have joined the primary school and all are practising their lines and rehearsing their moves - the evening promises to be a showcase of talent.
