THE Grade 9 “eco-crusaders” joined their geography teacher in the wetlands below the school last week, just downstream from our dam, and learnt to identify alien invader plants like bugweed and brambles - which they removed.

This is an ongoing task as these invaders are very good at surviving and proliferating.

The Grade 9s have also started their own recycling projects, saving water and electricity and promoting sustainable development around the school.

As the school year rapidly draws to a close, the primary and high school pupils are in the throes of learning for, and writing, examinations.

Our teachers have been busy setting the question papers, and have already started the marking process. In between the examinations, we look forward to the Kindergarten graduation and the ABC Schützenfest (where the Grade 1s welcome the just-graduated Grade Rs as Grade-1’s-to-be’) on Saturday, 26 November - which coincides with the annual birding big day.

On the Sunday 27 November there will be an Advent service in the Peter-Paul Church in Hermannsburg at 3pm, with the school’s choirs, to celebrate the approach of Christmas.
