AS reported a while ago, Julian Königkrämer competed in the Umzinyathi District Primary Schools Athletics Trials in Dundee on 3 February, where he placed first in the boys’ U11 long jump and second in the 70m hurdles.

He was selected for the Umzinyathi Team that participated in the KZN Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships in Chatsworth on February 10 and 11. The team departed from Greytown on the Thursday afternoon and stayed in an hotel in Durban where, on Friday morning, Julian slipped on the stairs and twisted his ankle.

His parents met up with him at the stadium and tried everything to get the ankle ready for competition, and he competed in the 70m hurdles, starting well, but enduring increasing pain.

He placed fifth out of the six runners despite his injury, however, that meant the end of his participation for the weekend.

The cricket fixtures against Domino Servite were unfortunately rained out last week, but the tennis boys played against Wembley College, who won 4-2 on points (31-23 in games). Our pupils and teachers took a welcome break over half-term and we are looking forward to an action-packed second half of the term. The high school open day is coming up on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 February - please contact John Pope on 074 125 0054 to book a place if you have a son or daughter in Grade 7 this year (entrance exams will be written on the Saturday); come and see all that our school has to offer.
