THE sun smiled on the inter-house athletics meeting in Hermannsburg on Saturday, and supporters were treated to no fewer than 51 records tumbling as our athletes showed their determination to excel, with not only first places, but exceeding records in many cases.
We congratulate all our athletes on their fine performances and the personal bests they achieved.
At the end of this dynamic meeting our age-group champions were: U9 - Andiswe Gabela and Amelia van de Merwe; U11 - Julian Königkrämer and Nkazimulo Mkhize; U13 - Asanda Nzimande and Siena Kimble; U15 - Awande Mbuli and Jarmin Claassen; U17 - Sven Klar and Lydia Köhne; U19 - Jordan Pope and Charlize Vermeulen.

The following trophies were also awarded: Bestall Trophy (primary school track athlete) Julian Königkrämer; Kimble Trophy (primary school field athlete) Julian Königkrämer; Morgentau Trophy (primary school Athlete of the Day) Julian Königkrämer; Günther Köhne Trophy (high school boys’ field athlete) Sven Klar; Ingrid Köhne Trophy (high school girls’ field athlete) Awande Mbuli; Landolf Klingenberg (high school boys’ track athlete) Sven Klar; Mel Klingenberg Trophy (high school girls’ track athlete) Londeka Ndlela; Klar Family Trophy (high achool Athlete of the Day) Sven Klar; Andrew Bam Trophy (junior victor ludorum) Julian Königkrämer; Teresa Bam Trophy (junior victrix ludorum) Siena Kimble; Carl Ortmann Trophy (senior victor ludorum) Sven Klar; Juanita Ortmann Trophy­ (senior victrix ludorum) Awande Mbuli.

The Rommelspacher Trophy for the winning house went to Reedbuck, who led by 1158 points to 1082 at the end. The Christel Brooks Trophy - Athletics Spirit Cup - also went to Reedbuck.

In soccer news, our players took on Weston Agricultural College on Friday, with the senior team winning 2-0 (goals by Owen Gumede and Owethu Gulubela), while the junior team ended their game 1-3 (goal by Ayabonga Dlamini). We look forward to the rest of the season.
