DID you know that the Easter bunny (der Osterhase) originated in Germany? According to legend, the Easter bunny, also called the “Easter hare” or “spring bunny”, brought baskets filled with coloured eggs, chocolate and sweets to the homes of children on Easter Sunday. There he either put the baskets in a designated place or hid them somewhere in the house or garden for the children to find.

Another German tradition is to paint chicken eggs after blowing out the contents into a bowl through pinholes at either end of the egg. The beautifully decorated hollow eggs are then hung from shrubs and trees in the garden during the Easter period.

The Little Oaks had their traditional Easter egg hunt before the start of the Easter holidays, with Easter baskets they had made themselves. They had loads of fun finding the Easter eggs hidden in our school grounds. Happy Easter to you all, may you find renewed hope, health, love and the spirit of God.
