SEVERAL Hermannsburg pupils and members of the Hermannsburg church community experienced six-and-a-half days of games, singing, worship, study, and Christian life at Kailager 2017, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Kailager campsite just north of Port Edward on the KwaZulu-Natal coastline.

The children had the opportunity to saturate their minds and hearts with God’s word, studying his word daily, hearing Bible lessons and singing praises to God. But they also learnt responsibility and independence by keeping their tents tidy, keeping their clothes together, and by being ready on time — all under the supervision of young-adult leaders. There were also wonderful opportunities to move about, running, jumping and swimming. Attending the camp means joining a close-knit community where individuals must agree to respect and co-operate with others. When they live in tents with others, children quickly learn to share chores, resolve disagreements and see the importance of sincere communication. A big thank you goes to the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the camp leaders for the amazing camp experience given to our pupils.
