A SUCCESSFUL tournament was held in Ward 12 on 1 July, organised by the Inadi youth as part of Youth Month celebrations in June.
The event drew players from Umvoti Wards 6, 12 and 14 of Umvoti. The organisers promote this annual event not only to look for new young talent and promote social cohesion within local communities, but also to encourage the youth to avoid drug and alcohol abuse.

Taking part in the soccer tournament were King Stars, Chisampana, FC Fortune, Experience, Nika Nika, Navigator and Nice and Easy. The finals were between Experience and Navigator and the latter team won on a penalty shoot-out. The winners received a trophy and gold medals and the runners-up received silver medals.

There were four netball teams taking part - Young Fortune, Qweda Stars, Siyabangen and Blue Stars. Young Fortune were the winners in the finals played against Qweda Stars. A trophy was presented with gold medals to the winners and silver medals to the runner-up. All other players received medals as a token of appreciation.

The organisers and players were very appreciative of the sponsors – ward councillor M.D. Khanyile, World Vision, Mr M. Madlala, councillor V.B. Njoko, councillor N. Masikane and councillor S. Xulu. The organisers were S.F. Masikane, M. Dlamini and J. Madlala. - S. Masikane.
