IT is bright, its fun, its easy to handle, and it is also educational.

It's the new Baby African Animals published this month by Greytonian, Lynda Drogemoller, with her own photographs and the names of the animals in English and Zulu.

Every page in this colourful book shows a baby animal in the foreground in its natural habitat in the wild with mum and dad, and family members in the background.

In an interview with Greytown Gazette Lynda said the idea for the book came about when she was looking for a special gift for a newly born family member - this plus her keen interest in photography, especially wildlife and creativity, led to the book.

To launch the book Lynda donated one to each of the Letcee Toy Libraries in Mbuba, Matimatolo, Njengabantu, Eshane and the mobile one, Ngome and Izingane Zethu (barracks in Greytown).

At the launch last Friday, deputy director of Letcee, Charmayne Forster said: "I love this book because not only does it have the English and Zulu names, the photographs are lovely and clear, leading to lots of discussion on the colours of the animals and the differences between female and male, etc., which makes it not only educational, but lots of fun at the same time."

Copies of the book are on sale at Letcee and Tranquili-ty. Lynda's cookbook Cooking Simply 4 U, which was published in 2007, is still in demand. This was written in response to answering numerous phone calls from her two children and their friends who suddenly found themselves having to cook their own meals and being unsure of what to add or how much, etc.
