THERE is so much happening on the Coddiwomple front, with time-trial runs, the Firebreak Fun 5 Night Trail Run Series, a leadership course and the Kwenza Ngubane Development Academy activities.

The popular Firebreak Fun 5 Night Trail Run Series starts on Monday, July 31, at 6 pm, and then runs on the four following Mondays — August 7, 14, 21 and 28.

The start and finish of the five-kilometre run (or bike ride) is at the Holme Lacy Trail clubhouse, with soup and glühwein for finishers.

Entry is R50 per run or R120 for a family per run, or a family package for the five Firebreak runs for R480.

Every second Saturday, starting at 8.30am, there is a five-kilometre time trial from the Holme Lacy Trail clubhouse. It is timed and entry is free, just turn up and run.

Another exciting development is that Coddiwomple will be hosting Kearsney College at the Blinkwater Trails at the end of August for a four-day leadership course incorporating trail hiking, mountain biking, orienteering, potjiekos competition and intellectual challenges.

At last Saturday’s time trial at Holme Lacy, Tamara Snead and community members arranged a good discount with Mr Price Maxed, with the happy result of 20 enthusiastic new runners receiving a new pair of running shoes to assist with training.

Kwenza Ngubane will be training and heading the development academy and all involved are looking forward to seeing the positive growth of these runners whose times are already phenomenal.

Shoes and running kit will be collected for the development academy at each of the night runs.
