St Cathryn’s news

2016-01-20 06:00

SAINT Cathryn's family day away at Simbithi was a fun golf day with a 4-ball alliance format, and 12 players took part.

The senior team of Barkhuizen, Nel, Harrison and Padoa walked off with the honours. It was also great to have had Barry Oehme joining the golfers, although a senior member, he played for the more youthful team of Oehme, Steyn, Rabe and Palm. The youngest team, consisting of Harrison, Ungerer, Nel and Stanger, got given the golf lesson of their life.

Also during the holidays Ross Robertson challenged the St Cathryn's members to a game of golf. Now Ross, a successful past member of St Cathryn's, had his team of Ross, Pete Anderson with his son Russel, Mark and Ewald Kohne and their team was called the Miners. St Cathryn’s Club captain Brent Barkhuizen led the St Cathryn’s team, open to all members in need of a serious game and our team was called the Farmers.

Competition was fierce and golfers set off on a beautiful summers day just before Christmas. The Farmers team walked off with the floating trophy and a "Nou gaan ons Braai" evening ended the day off. We hope this will become an annual event as we are looking forward to the return match.

This Saturday 23 January, we are playing our second Farmers Agri-Care monthly mug, which is open to all golfers. Tee-off from 9am and contact Piet if you would like to play. A reminder to all members that subs are now due please.

Supper on Friday 22 January will be chef's surprise, so contact Piet 083 269 1661 to book.
