St Cathryn’s news

2016-02-03 06:00

WE have had below average rainfall this January and with the hot and dry conditions expected for the first part of this week – the golf course has gone into vasbyt mode.

The last irrigation given was October 2015, so we have been unable to hollow-tine and do spring treatment.

The greens have had some light verti-cutting in the past two weeks to avoid thatch build-up later in the year.

Work on the new score card is progressing well, with distance, stroke and local rules some of the changes.

Work on tee box markers will happen later this year, and any company that would like to sponsor our tee box markers are welcome to speak to Piet.

The next Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug will be played on Saturday 27 February, and is open to everyone with an official handicap.

Members who have renewed, please note there has been a date change for the triangular competition, and will now take place on Sunday 3 April at St Cathryn’s. This change was to facilitate our opponents Darnall and Mandini – who changed the date due to a clash with the Zululand league

Supper this Friday 5 February will be lamb curry and rice with sambals and papadums, R55 per adult and R35 children 12 years and under. To book, contact Piet by Thursday 10am.
