SHOWING their care for cancer survivors 128 people, turned up on Saturday, to contribute their share to the CANSA shavathon sponsored by MASCOR in Greytown.

From the very young to the not so young, they lined up to have their hair sprayed with weird and wonderful colours and some way-out designs too. The highly efficient sprayers were Form 5 students from Wembley College who undertook this project as part of their community outreach programme.

One of the facets of the work done by CANSA is supplying wigs to cancer patients who lose their hair when undergoing treatment. Five really committed caring individuals who had grown their hair long , including two young girls, were there to have their hair cut and donated to CANSA.

Quite a few present opted for the actual Shavathon whilst some just braved the number 1 cut.

A spokesman for MASCOR expressed appreciation to all who supported this special cause – a total of R8 000 was raised for the Cancer Association of South Africa.
