THANKS to the enthusiasm of Umvoti Academy director, Sensei Sbonele, about 500 youngsters throughout Umvoti are involved in karate training in Greytown, Muden, Eshane and Makabeleni.

The sensei is enthusiastic that Cordwall School has enrolled 84 youngsters to learn karate who have been graded recently by him.

On Thursday, 17 March, six karate pundits from Umvoti will be taking part in the KZN tournament at the Mangosuthu University of Technology. Greytown will host the annual provincial tournament on 16 April.

Sensei Sbonelo will represent South Africa, and Umvoti, at a summer camp in Greece in July for his next level and will then travel to Japan to be examined for his higher grading. This is a great boost for Umvoti to have someone representing South Africa.

He is still looking for assistance for his travels, phone Sensei Sbonelo on 071 368 7782 if you can assist.

Umvoti Karate Academy has expressed its appreciation to the following sponsors - Umvoti Aids Centre, Platt Plant, Vee's Auto, Impala Tavern, Min Cash, Aheers, Umvoti Municipality and Umvoti Disaster Manager.
