IN the early hours of last Saturday morning a gang of thieves broke into Tugela Foods in Durban Street causing extensive damages.
A large portion of the store and contents were burnt in the subsequent fire.
It is reported that the thieves attempted to open a safe using an angle grinder, but were unable to.
At the time of going to press Tugela Food management was waiting for a team of forensic investigators to establish the cause of the fire.
It was alleged that it could have been started by a spark from the angle grinder or had been started deliberately.

Hundreds of thousands of rand damage occurred as the office was totally destroyed in the fire and a vast quantity of stock was fire or water damaged.
