Wembley College head explains

2016-12-07 06:01

Sir, ON Monday 28 November, Wembley College staged their annual carol service.

At the end there was a fireworks display that had been sponsored. We had advertised the fireworks on all of our posters and in all of our newsletters.

Prior to staging it, we had consulted the Pietermarizburg SAPS for the licence.

We had the fireworks display in the furthermost corner of our property in respect to the town.

It kicked off our 20- year anniversary celebrations and lent a certain carnival atmosphere to our end-of-year celebrations. It was incredibly spectacular and the entire show lasted eight-and-a-half minutes.

For many it was seen as a reward for hard work that had been put in during the year by both the pupils and tea- chers.

The pleasure and wonder on the faces of the children and adults of our school was something special to behold.

It has come to our attention that some members of the community were very upset about their pets and we do apologise to them.

It had never been our intention to upset or harm anyone or their pets.

We continue to try and give the best service to the Greytown community and are committed to the future and wellbeing of the town.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the Umvoti district a blessed Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Dederick Swart

Wembley College Principal
