WEMBLEY had its first tag rugby session on Monday 24 October with a mixed group of boys attending. This terms tag rugby is exclusively available to the Wembley boys.

The aim of these energetic sessions is to teach our players to support towards the ball by running into the space available. We want to make the game fast to deny defenders the opportunity to realign their defensive lines. Dads are invited to join in the fun and we would like thank Steve Cope and Richard Lubbe for joining us on Monday, your influence was very beneficial to the boys who were very impressed with the excellent skills and lightning speed you displayed.

This is also a good opportunity for the dads to improve their fitness. We look forward to the next tag rugby evening on Monday 31 October from 5pm to 6pm.

Wembley College extends a sincere word of thanks to the PA for their hard work throughout the year. Thank you to all parents who supported the various fund-raising initiatives, which were put together this year - the mountain bike race and golf day- which were both huge successes.

The PA donated R20 000, which was raised from the golf day towards the building of our clubhouse.

Well done to all the pupils who took part in the Coddiwomple 5km fun run. We trust you enjoyed yourselves immensely.

We had a most successful transfer day last Friday. There were no tears, just smiles all around. Each grade spent a couple of hours with their new teachers for next year. They created pieces of art, which will be displayed from the first day. The day engendered lots of excitement for 2017.

We are very excited to be hosting our second Colour Run on Saturday 19 November. We would like to encourage the whole school, as well as parents and their friends, to support us this year.

The funds raised from this event will go towards the U13 and Open Hockey tours in 2017. This will make the tours slightly more affordable for all the parents of the players. The pre-entry fee is R50 per adult and R40 per pupil. However, on the day entry is R60. Bacon and egg rolls will be on sale throughout the morning.

Please contact us at jpsport@wembleycollege. co.za or sport@wembleycol lege.co.za for registration forms. Don't miss out.
