THE Grade 3 pupils made their customary trek down to the coast for their annual sleepover tour.

We left Greytown on Thursday morning and our first destination was the Natal Sharks Board in Mount Edgecombe.

Our host, Steven, cut up a Hammerhead shark that had been caught in the nets that morning. We learnt about the different kinds of sharks and the differences between them. Our next stop was Gateway to play tenpin bowling.

Mrs Dreyer was the champion of Electric Avenue followed by Marsel. After some ambling around the games arcade we made our way to the bus to travel up to Ballito. As usual at Flag Farm the children loved interacting with the farm animals.

They now have a reptile section and two resident Canadian wolves. We then made our way to our accommodation for the night – Cane Cutters’ Resort. A welcome swim helped to cool us all down after a hot day in the vehicles. Dinner at Spur proved to be most enjoyable.

We ended our long day seated round a bonfire, roasting marshmallows and listening to a chapter of our class novel. We shared the scene with a couple of frogs who distracted some of the boys.

After a night of rest, we had breakfast before moving on to Croc Creek. After the tour of the farm, some of our children played paintball in teams. After the morning we had lunch at MacDonalds before taking the long, winding road home.

As the dust settles on another successful Grade 3 trip, we would like to make special mention of Mrs Delia Dreyer, who accompanied the group. She gave freely of her time and was a very capable chaperone for the group. We are most grateful for her assistance. A special mention must be made of the Grade 3 children’s good manners and behaviour. Well done.

We are extremely proud of our Wembley pupils who have been selected for the choir and are prepared to put in all the extra hard work and hours required for this opportunity - Renier and Amoré van Rooyen, Monique Jonker and CG Nefdt.

They have an exciting week-long (singing) camp during the holidays and will practise every Thursday evening in Pietermaritzburg in the first term of next year.

Wembley College cubbies area would like to thank the PA for their generous donation of soccer balls and baby dolls, which they have donated to the fantasy area. This donation has had a hugely positive impact on our children.
