WE had our second lego club on Friday afternoon with many enthusiastic pupils. We love to see and observe how creative our children can be and how children of all grades mingle so naturally “while having fun”.

Last Thursday we arranged a friendly tennis match with Laddsworth. They brought 12 boys, who are not their regular league match players, and they played against our boys, most of whom had never played a match either. It was rewarding to see all the courts filled with tennis players who really enjoyed the game of tennis.

On Wednesday 9 August, the Foundation Phase hosted another successful grandparents’ day. We were inundated with 210 doting grandparents. Just like last year we had two separate concerts for the pre-primary and junior primary.

The pre-school melted the hearts of their grannies and grandpas by crooning songs like Granny O Granny I Love You So. This was followed by tea where our Form 1 scholars were waitresses.
The junior primary then performed their Colours programme of music, dance, bucket drumming and poetry. The half-hour show was capably hosted by Ziyanda Maphanga and Angela Allen.

After a rousing rendition of Somewhere over the rainbow guests moved to the various classrooms to spend some quality time with their grandchildren. This is a very special time for the children where they get to “show off” their work, read to granny or to brag about their art on the walls.
We thank all our grandparents who took the time and effort to be at Wembley on this very important day.
