IN the last week of Term 3 all our children entered the Masco Rhino Colouring Competition.

Effort was put into the colouring to make the shades as realistic as possible. The R10 entry was paid for by our proceeds from the Candyland Social Function.

Grade 1 pupils have been nursing and nurturing 16 silkworms in their classroom. They had to take turns running all the way down, past the Aloe Hall, to the only mulberry tree on the school grounds - twice a day - only to return with four or five leaves each for the greedy little munching machines.

Meanwhile, at her house, Mrs Swanepoel was raising an additional 80 silkworms with the promise they would diligently make each child a silk bookmarker. Great was their excitement as they watched the silkworms grow to the size of their little fingers and even greater the surprise to watch them spin their cocoons.

The children are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the silk moths and hope to witness the laying of hundreds of eggs really soon. Until they all hatch next year around September.

The library has some amazing new additions. Over 1000 DVDs were donated to the library. There are some wonderful choices for the family - action, romance, sci fi, adventure and so more. For only R10 these DVDs can be rented for an evening. This is part of the efforts to raise additional funds for the library.

We look forward to our annual transfer day on Friday when 2018 preschoolers will meet their future teachers. Please drop them off at school - all the new preschoolers will end their day at 11am.

The rest of the JPs will return to their classes later in the day and can be collected at their normal time. Well done to Sarah Barber who will be making her debut for the KZN Inlands Woman’s Senior Team in their first provincial tournament of the season.

She will be playing on the weekend of October 14 and 15. Sarah also took part in the KZN Primary Sub-Youth League 3 event in Ladysmith on September 16 and came first, long jump 4.74 m (PB), second 90m hurdles and fourth 100m.
