CONGRATULATIONS to Greytown Junior School whose enthusiastic pupils and management came tops in the recent drought initiative to purchase Hippo rollers for rural areas.
17 November, marked the highly successful culmination of the partnership between Greytown Junior School and Aheers.

At this official handover of four Hippo rollers to Gift of the Givers, VIP guest was Naresh Aheer, and GJS principal Mr Nel and Tracy Adkins, representative for the head office of drought relief and disaster management in Pietermaritzburg.
The three performed a short play outlining and emphasising the importance of saving water to prevent drought disasters. Lucky draws were held in recognition of the fantastic input of pupils and staff in the creative art exhibition held at the store.

The three main role players in the team provided the necessary “magic” for lucky draws by concealing their faces behind green boards while pupils of each grade, voted for who they thought would bring them the most luck in the draw.
Mr Nel was guilty of peeping when his eyes should have been closed. The pupils were quick to report his cheating by loud clapping. Great fun was had by all.

At the end of the function, the proud team handed over a total of four Hippo rollers for distribution by Gift of Givers to those in need in the rural areas.

The winning combination of Aheers and Greytown Junior School resulted in the partnership being the overall winning combination of the drought drive

This committed team even beat schools in the Pietermaritzburg area.
