VOLLEYBALL teams from 11 schools took part in a tournament held on Youth Day.

Organised by Umzinyathi Volleyball Federation, the Umvoti Volleyball Association and the Department of Education, the tournament was held at Indlovana Primary.

Primary schools that competed in the junior category for boys and girls were Ophathe, Bangumuzi, Lootshoek, Halalisani, Tholinhlanhla and Makhemfundo.

Lootshoek beat Ophathe in the final­ boys’ section and Lootshoek again beat Bangumuzi in the final girls’ section.

Secondary schools that competed in the senior section for males and females­, included Buhlebuyeza, Langazela, Sebenzakusakhanya, Phathizwe and Sangweni.

Phathizwe beat Langazela in the female final and Sebenzakusakhanya beat Sangweni in the male final.

Winners and first runners-up received trophies and medals.

The organisers thank the education co-curricular support desk for the provision of transport and meals for players, KZN Volleyball Federation for the referees, Indlovana Primary for the use the school facilities, Radio Khwezi for its presence and coverage, EMRS and all the players and their parents for making the day a success. - A.M.
