THE Robin Hood Foundation’s sixth annual “Bless a Granny andamp; Grandpa” campaign kicked off and Compass Medical Waste Services got on-board by donating 1000 bookmarks to be included in gifts for the elderly.

Each bookmark features a prayer and 10 Bible verses to provide inspiration and comfort to the elderly during the Christmas period. These bookmarks will be included in the gift bags which will be handed to residents in old-age homes throughout the province.

“We know that the festive season can be a particularly lonely time for many of these residents which is why we decided to support the Robin Hood Foundation’s campaign to bless the elderly,’’ says Ian du Randt, Compass Medical Waste Services managing director.

“We hope that the bookmarks are useful as well as a source of motivation, inspiration and encouragement to the recipients. I know they were to me.’’

The Robin Hood Foundation invites the community to be part of the Christmas magic and participate in their Bless a Granny andamp; Grandpa campaign by either buying a personalised gift, baking treats for the visits or coming along to assist with the handing out of presents.

“The elderly folk are so grateful for their much-anticipated gifts, but are even more appreciative of the time taken to make a fuss over them,’’ says Kim Griffith Jones, the Robin Hood Foundation co-ordinator.

“For many living in old-age homes, this is the only gift and only visit they receive the whole year round. We encourage individuals and corporates, like Compass, to get involved in any way they can,’’ says Jones.

For more information, or to receive a personalised wish list to purchase a gift valued at R150, contact Kim on
