THE Robin Hood Foundation invites the community to be part of the Christmas magic and get involved with their sixth annual Bless a Granny andamp; Grandpa campaign this year.

Since the start of this project in 2010, known then as “Adopt a Granny”, to date, with the amazing support of the community, the Bless a Granny and Grandpa Projects have seen the RHF hand out more than 10 000 gifts to grannies and grandpas in old-age homes around Durban. This has come to be a project that the elderly folk most look forward to.

Most of these grannies or grandfathers have food and a bed to sleep in but many have families who live far away or do not come and visit anymore - so this is why the RHF gives them gifts to show they are still loved, cared for and that they are very important people. If you would like to bless a granny or grandpa this Christmas - there are two options - either email the RHF and it will get a granny’s name sent through (in order to process all) or you can do a generic gift for a male or female of toiletries, sweets, biscuits, etc.

RHF chairlady, Cindy Norcott said: “If you go for the first option. We will advise you with the name and wish list of your grandparent. Please use this on the label stuck on the front of the present (you can put the present into a gift bag instead of wrapping - the wrapping tears and we can add more items to the parcel). We will also supply you with the wish of the grandparent. Some wishes are very small like a Kit-Kat or tissues, etc., so you can make the gift up to the value of R150.”

There are various drop-off points around Durban for our Bless a Granny andamp; Grandpa Campaign:

Proappointments - 6 The Viewz, 11 The Boulevard, Westway Office Park (opp Pavilion);

Broadway Pharmacy - Broadway, Durban North;

Wool and#039;n Weave - Lillies Quarters, Old Main Road, Hillcrest.

Chilli Source Design – Old Main Road, Kloof.

For many old folk this will be the only gift they receive this year, for others it is a time of love and blessings. With your help, we can make a difference to the elderly folk in our community this Christmas.

“Christmas is a season of giving and if you can spare R150 to buy a granny or grandpa a gift, we would love your help,” said Norcott.
