GET ready for a night of rock with Arno Carstens and band at the Villa Brae’s Open Strings in Kloof on Friday 13 November. Doors open at 6pm.

During his career as the lead singer of Springbok Nude Girls and subsequently as a solo artist, Carstens has released 10 studio albums, five as the lead singer of Springbok Nude Girls, one as half of the Electronica project, Bhelltower and five as a solo artist - Another Universe (2003), The Hello Goodbye Boys (2005), Wonderful Wild (2010), Atari Gala (2012) and Lightning Prevails (2014).

He has had over 20 top 10 singles, won five South African Music Awards and shared the stage with legends of the music world including U2, the Rolling Stones and REM.

He has toured sold-out shows extensively in SA, UK, Europe and U.S., headlined every major South African festival and performed at some of the most legendary international music festivals including Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, V Festival, T in the Park and Hard Rock Calling.

Another Universe, Carstens’s debut solo album, was released in 2003 and did not disappoint, becoming the biggest selling South African English rock album this side of the millennium.
The platinum-selling album won a Sama Award for Best Rock Album in 2004.

Carstens’s second solo album, The Hello Goodbye Boys, was released in 2005. Produced by South African studio maestro Brian O’ Shea (U.S.’s Seether), the album went gold and won a Sama award in 2006.

Carstens’s debut UK album, Wonderful Wild, released in 2010 was written, recorded and mixed in London and Spain with co-songwriting contributions from Giles Martin, James Walsh, Jim Duguid and Youth. The album was produced by British producer Youth (The Verve’s Urban Hymns) and Jim Duguid (Paulo Nutini’s These Streets).
The final mix on the album is by Tim Bran (The Verve’s recent UK number one album).
Hits from this album were playlisted on radio throughout UK and Europe.

Besides touring and recording with Springbok Nude Girls and working on the Arno Plus (Arno’s first solo art exhibition) with accompanying collaborative Blind Tiger sessions, Carstens released his fourth solo album, which is the landmark 10th studio album of his 20-year career.

Titled Atari Gala - a Japanese translation that implies a warning cry or celebration - the album was written in part in New York, London, Johannesburg and Cape Town and produced by Carstens and Brendan Jury.
