Irish dancing alive and well

2015-07-28 15:41

IRISH dancing is alive and well in Hillcrest as students compete locally and in Ireland in pursuit of excellence in this dance form.

In a recent Durban competition, Michelle Williams and Louriece Odendal won first place for their Two Hand Reel. Both will now compete in Johannesburg from 2 to 4 October in the South African Irish Dancing Championships.

In addition, Hillcrest dancer Heidi Davidson, travelled to Ireland in 2014 to take classes and compete in two dancing competitions in Cashel and Cork. Although the standard of competition in Ireland was exceptionally high, she brought home three medals.

Away from the competition arena dancers also take part in stage productions.
