Manhunt for armed business robbers

2015-09-15 06:00

HILLCREST SAPS and Secure Link have launched a manhunt for four men who robbed a business in Hillcrest on Wednesday.

Hillcrest SAPS CPF public relations officer Steven King said: “The men entered the property and two grabbed an elderly client and forced him back to the office,” he said.

“The other two then forced the outside staff at gunpoint into the office where they were all made to lie on the ground.”

King said that another client in a car then arrived and the men opened the gate for him and allowed him entry. He was also forced into the office.

“The men then started kicking the owner who was lying on the ground with his hands cable-tied behind his back. They demanded firearms and cash,” said King.

“The men then locked the office and took the owner’s bakkie and the customers’ cellphones, the owner’s laptop and cash.”

The owner managed to untie his hands and phoned his wife who alerted Secure Link.

“Secure link and Hillcrest SAPS responded and a search was done for the vehicle. We received information that the vehicle was seen going towards Ngcolosi,” King said.

The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Ngcolosi along NGwele road. No arrests were made and the investigation is continuing.

King appeals to anyone with information to contact him or the Hillcrest SAPS. He said that all information will be treated with confidentiality.

King can be contacted on 082 820 4017.
