Copper thief’ in court

A 36-year-old suspect appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday for possession of copper which is believed to be stolen.

According to Pinetown SAPS communication officer Lieutenant B.J. Manqele, Pinetown visible policing members were doing their routine duties in Westmead when they spotted a suspicious looking bakkie parked outside the scrapyard.

It is alleged that when the driver6 of a bakkie saw the police approach him, he drove his vehicle into the scrapyard.

“The members followed the vehicle and upon searching it, a bag full of copper was found hidden under the scrap metal.

“The suspect was placed under arrest and was later charged for possession of suspected stolen copper. The value of the copper is about R7 000,” said Manqele.

Suspects nabbed for robbery

Two suspects, aged between 26 and 31, were arrested in Hill Street next to Supermarkets in Pinetown for robbery on Thursday.

Police said that is alleged that the victim was walking along Hill Street when he saw a group of men standing in the foot path. They apparently pulled out knives and threatened the man who was robbed of two cellphones.

The man reported the case at Pinetown SAPS immediately afterwards and the detectives who were on duty doing suspect raids arrested the two men on Hill Street.

The suspects were pointed out by the victim.

The two suspects will be charged and they will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.

Suspect nabbed for rape

Hillcret detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy in his home at Embo Reserve for a rape case on Monday 19 October.
It is alleged that on Friday 16 October at about 10pm a 14-year-old girl was at the tavern with her friends at Embo area.
Police said that while they were enjoying themselves at the tavern she was called by the accused who is known to her.
“The accused pulled the victim to the back of the tavern and raped her on several occasions.
“The victim reported the matter to her friends and she informed her parents of what happened and the case was reported at Hillcrest police station for further investigations.The case was handed over to Pinetown FCS. The suspect was charged and is expected to appear soon at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court,” said police.
