IT’S been an action-packed few weeks at Hillcrest Corner. The redevelopment project which will see a brand new parking deck being built has officially commenced. The parking entrance P2 was closed and hoarding is going up in the required areas. While this all happens, we are also reshuffling some stores and said goodbye to some and negotiating very exciting new tenant leases which will finalise our new exciting offering.

Change is never easy, but it’s incredibly necessary and we are undergoing these massive changes with a genuine view to delivering a more relevant community shopping offering than ever.

The construction of the new parking deck will offer 215 new parking bays and allow shoppers to access the upper level of the centre through a second entrance. The Checkers deck has been officially closed to accommodate the construction of the new deck and during this time shoppers are encouraged to park in the basement parking area where they will be able to access their favourite stores via the elevators.

Within the redevelopment project the centre will also be upgrading all the centre’s bathrooms and parking equipment which will contribute positively to an improved overall shopping experience.

We are also incredibly excited to announce that Virgin Active will be opening a branch at our shopping centre in September 2016. We are confident that the new addition will allow us to deliver that true community offering we have been working so hard to achieve.

While we understand that construction is an inconvenience we urge all shoppers to bear with us during this transitional period as we will all reap the rewards once the project has been completed. Bev Wilson, Hillcrest Corner Centre manager, shared her thoughts on the redevelopment: “We urge all our shoppers to look for the rainbow after the storm. We understand that construction is an inconvenience and that our shopping centre is currently in a state of change, but it will all be worth it. These renovations are being conducted with our shopper’s best interests at heart, to provide them with the shopping experience they deserve. Please bear with us during this difficult time and look towards the future and the completion of the development”.

Shoppers have been incentivised by the “Make the Most of our Makeover” competition which is in full swing. August’s R5000 prize and the massive R10 000 voucher giveaway in September are still up for grabs, so shoppers are encouraged to visit the Centre to submit their entries. To enter, shoppers simply need to spend R250 or more at any two stores, put their till slips into an entry envelope, fill in their details and drop their envelope into the entry box.

The redevelopment is on track and the completion of phase one is already in sight. As Hillcrest Corner continues to improve their offering, Centre management is looking forward to the future, to welcoming new stores and the much anticipated construction of a new Virgin Active in phase two of the redevelopment.- Supplied.
