THERE was great excitement in the Umgeni River Valley at Durban Green Corridors isiTumba Adventures when the 2015 Kwa-Ximba trail run took place with 146 runners participating over three distances last Sunday.
Kloof Conservancy chairman Paolo Candotti said:

“The premier event was the very tough 22km run over the granite dome of isiThumba Mountain which showcased the natural beauty of the area.”

“The event is a fund-raiser for the Kwa-Ximba Conservancy, which is working to preserve the environment in Kwa-Ximba. The event was a joint venture between Kwa-Ximba and Kloof Conservancies.”

Sizwe Mkhize from the Molweni Mambas took the trophy in the 22km men’s race in a time of 1:58:12 and Khanyisile Duze also from the Molweni Mambas won the 22km ladies event in 2:36:51.

The 16km men’s event was won by Mvelo Hlambisa in a time of 1:08:52 and the 16km ladies winner was Kylie Griffin in 1:25:40.

“A big thank you to the sponsors of the event, Burble Pix, GCS Consultants, Dunbar’s Superspar and Kantey & Templer,” said Candotti. - Supplied.
