HILLCREST SAPS made an arrest in a remote-jamming incident which at the Christian Village parking lot in Hillcrest on Tuesday.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Constable N. Manqele, said the victim parked his Toyota Hilux bakkie at Christian Village parking and when he returned he noticed that his laptop, which was on the back seat, had been stolen.

“The victim immediately reported the incident to the police and investigations proceeded with the police viewing the CCTV footage from the centre,” said Manqele.

“The police managed to pick up the vehicle registration that was involved in the commission of crime. Upon further investigation the police discovered that the vehicle belongs to a car hire company in La Lucia. A follow-up was made which led to the arrest of a man in connection with the crime.”

Manqele said the man was also found with other items that were stolen in similar incidents that occurred at Dancor Properties Hillcrest earlier that day.

The man will be charged and will appear in Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon. - Supplied
