SPCA staff, volunteers ‘locked up’

2015-06-16 06:00

THE new socialisation runs for dogs at the Kloof and Highway SPCA are almost complete.

In anticipation to the build-up of opening these new kennels, 24 staff and volunteers were “locked up” for 24 hours, from Friday 5 June 12pm to Saturday 6 June 12pm, to raise funds for the next project which will be to upgrade the adult cattery section before winter sets in.

The locked-up staff and volunteers were not allowed to leave until they had raised a minimum of R5 000 each to go towards enriching the lives of our adult cats. The fundraiser was a huge s uccess and it was well supported by the community.

The project has raised R200 000 and donations are still coming through.

“Thank you to everyone who took part in our Dog Box 2015 Challenge and to those who donated towards our bail, visited us and brought us treats. A big thank you for caring and making a difference in the lives of animals in our care,” said Barbara Patrick. - Supplied
