2015-11-04 06:00

THE Kloofand Highway SPCA, the Highway branch of the Wildlife and Environment Society (WESSA), and Kloof Conservancy will be joining forces once again to host a social evening in aid of the Glenhome Nature Reserve on the SPCA grounds.

Alan Job, chairman of the Highway branch of WESSA said the three organisations came together in 2013 to restore the reserve to its former glory.

He said two of the bridges have been repaired and most of the paths re-opened, however, a third bridge and walkway over the wetlands need to be rebuilt before the remainder of the reserve can be opened.

“To raise the funds needed we are holding a social evening on Friday 6 November at the Kloof Junior Primary School, 30 Abelia Road, Kloof at 6.30pm for 7pm, and the public is urged to attend.

“The evening will comprise of a talk by Paolo Candotti, Kloof Conservancy chairman about the history of the area, how the SPCA came to be where it is, of the work being done to restore Glenholme and the need to raise funds for this. This will be followed by a photographic slide presentation of New Zealand which we believe will be of interest to many,” he added.
