EXCITEMENT is building at Hillcrest Corner as the redevelopment continues to surge. Itand#039;s been all systems go over the past couple of weeks and we have a number of exciting announcements to make.

Weand#039;d like to thank all of our shoppers for their patience thus far and hope they are just as excited as we are about the changes to come.

First and foremost, the July winner from our and#034;Make the Most of our Makeoverand#034; competition has been announced.

Lala van der Merwe, a fun-filled motorbike riding firecracker and a loyal Hillcrest Corner shopper, won centre shopping vouchers worth R5 000 after making two purchases at Perfect10. Remember, the prizes for August and September are still up for grabs. If youand#039;d like to stand a chance of winning great shopping vouchers like Van der Merwe then make sure you enter soon.

The Virgin Active project has been expanded which means the completion date has been pushed to November 2016.

and#034;While we understand that an extra two months have been added onto the completion of the Virgin Active, we urge shoppers to be patient and assure them that it will be worth the wait,and#034; said centre manager, Bev Wilson.

Some concerns have also been raised over the issue of parking since the Checkers parking deck has been closed.

and#034;We are doing everything we can to ensure that parking at the centre runs smoothly and have erected signage in the basement parking area to direct shoppers to the nearest entrance of their desired store,and#034; said Wilson.

While some of the basement parking area has been closed off to accommodate the construction of the new parking deck there is still ample parking for all Hillcrest Corner shoppers.

The good news is that the basement parking can be easily accessed via the Old Main Road entrance while the upper level is easily accessible from Hospital Road.

Once in the centre, shoppers can navigate between the two parking areas using the helix.

Finally, we need to introduce the gentlemen who will be handling the construction of the new-look Hillcrest Corner.

NMC Construction, a multidisciplinary construction company with over 30 years’ experience in large-scale construction projects, will be responsible for shaping our new and improved centre.

The entire project will be overseen by Cobus Grobler, the contract manager with the assistance of the on-site foreman, Peter Mager, an experienced and meticulous professional who has a reputation for reliability and time effective project delivery.

Hillcrest Corner centre management is excited about the changes taking place and is happy that the ball is rolling on a project which they have envisioned for a number of years.

Grateful for their shoppers understanding and patience, they are now focused on ensuring that the process runs as smoothly as possible so that the centre may continue to service their faithful community of Hillcrest shoppers. - Supplied
