BLUE Security armed response officers arrested a man who allegedly repeatedly stabbed a 61-year-old woman in Westriding on Monday before fleeing the scene of the crime.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the officer had responded to a panic alarm in Galloway Road at around 9am when he made the arrest

“When he arrived at the property the resident informed him that she had heard suspicious noises outside in the road which was why she had sounded the alarm,” he said.

“Upon further investigation in the neighbourhood he found a 61-year-old woman who had just been attacked and stabbed in her arm and face,” he said.

“ER24 paramedics treated her at the scene before transporting her to St Mary’s hospital for further treatment,” he said.

Jackson said the officer was assisted by another of the company’s armed reaction officers and the pair then tracked down and arrested the alleged attacker, an 18 year old Embo man, in Carnevale Road.

“He was handed over to the Hillcrest SAPS,” he said.

“We commend the dedication of our armed response officers who did not give up until they had caught the alleged perpetrator. We hope that this arrest sends a strong message to criminals that we will not tolerate crime on our watch and that we will continue to work closely with the community to bring them to book,” he said
