THE Fever caught up with André the Hilarious Hypnotist ahead of his show in Durban this month.

HF: Tell me about yourself.

André: I was born in Durban, but grew up in Johannesburg. I have always had a passion for theatre, cave exploration and seahorses, all which play a major role in my life.

HF: When did you get into hypnotherapy, and why?

André: I knew from a young age I was going to work in the theatre industry having trained in drama and performing for most of my life. It was a chance meeting in the 1980s with the late Max Collie that steered my career in the direction it is now.

HF: How has this changed your life?

André: 23 years on stage and at least another 23 to go. From being a part-time entertainer and magician to a full-time stage hypnotist is a complete makeover.

HF: What do you specialise in?

André: I am a professional stage hypnotist, in other words I am qualified as a hypnotist, and I am also qualified in speech and drama with them being my career of choice. I specialise in providing alternative family friendly entertainment.

HF: Which word best describes you?

André: Passionate.

HF: Why should people watch you on stage?

André: People should attend the show because it’s funny, family friendly entertainment for all ages. People should take part on stage because they become the stars of the show.
