Armed response officer in firing line

A BLUE Security armed response officer was shot at by a group of armed men in Forest Hills recently.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the suspects had fired shots at an armed response officer in Forest Hills at around 7.40pm.
“Our officer was conducting a check on a property in Margaret Crescent. As he passed the main entrance a shot was fired unexpectedly towards him. He fired a warning shot into the ground in the direction of the shooter, and ran to his vehicle to call for back-up.

“While calling for back-up, another shot was fired at him. He dropped his radio and took cover on the ground near his vehicle to wait for back-up.”
Jackson said that when back-up officers arrived, they found that one of the shots had hit the vehicle windscreen. “There were no injuries or damages reported to the property,” he said.
The shooter had fled the scene.

Hillcrest SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
