Cash-in-transit heist in Botha’s Hill

ARMED robbers held up a cash-in-transit van in Botha’s Hill and fled with an undisclosed sum of cash on Tuesday. Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the incident was one of several serious and violent crimes at business premises across the city yesterday.

“G4 cash in transit security guards had just arrived at a business premises in Old Main Road in Botha’s Hill when they were ambushed by rifle-wielding armed robbers.

“A robber disarmedone of the guards when he jumped out of the van with two cash boxes.

“A second suspect grabbed the cash boxes and they fled towards a vehicle parked across the road,” Jackson said. “The robbers fled towards the Kwanyuswa area in a white VW Polo with the registration NU 45566,” he said. Hillcrest SAPS and the SAPS Organised Crime Unit attended the scene of the crime. - Supplied
