CELEBRATE World AIDS Day with the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust at its annual World AIDS Day Christmas Market on Saturday 28 November from 8am to 2pm.

On the day there will be stalls galore selling delicious coffee, hand-crafted items and indigenous Christmas trees. There will also be a tea garden, a jumping castle for the children, a raffle with exiting prizes up for grabs and rocking live music from the local band Parable Fifteen and up-and-coming artists such as Robz Millar.

The annual event gives the Highway community an opportunity to unite in the fight against HIV and show support to those living with HIV and commemorate those who have passed away.

Current statistics indicate that over 50% of people in South Africa who are HIV positive do not yet know their status. Knowing one’s status is the only way to turn HIV/AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable chronic illness.

"We dream of a South Africa and a world in which there would be no shame around a HIV diagnosis, and that people living with HIV would be treated just as any other person living with a chronic illness," said Olivia Myeza, CEO at Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust. “So come through to the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, 26 Old Main Road, on World AIDS Day and receive your free HIV test.”
