KLOOF Lions held its annual seniors Christmas luncheon on Sunday 4 December at the Kloof Town Hall.

The Lions Clubs International celebrated its 99th anniversary this year and was founded by Melvin Jones in 1917. Their motto is “We serve”.

Lions Clubs International is the largest service club organisation in the world. There are 1.4 million members perform valuable service in 210 countries and geographic areas around the globe. Lions are friends, family and neighbours who share a core belief: community is what we make it.

About 120 senior citizens from various homes in the Upper Highway area and surrounds were invited to a three course meal prepared by the Kloof Lions.

This year Cowies Hill and Gillitts Lions also came on board offering both financial and helping hand assistance.

Kloof Scouts and Cubs performed and assisted with the serving of the meals.

The Highbury and St Mary’s maestros performed a selection of traditional carols and the guests sang along in the carolling.

A special thanks was mentioned to Kloof Village Mall, Pick ‘n Pay Kloof and Tops Kwikspar Hillcrest for their donations and support.
