PET lovers and dogs of all sizes and breeds arrived at the Kloof Country Club on Sunday, August 27, to enjoy the fourth Annual Sunflower Doggy Fun Walk in association with Village Veterinary Clinic and Petwise.

Donning their bright 2017 Sunflower Topes, the pooches and their people took off on a lovely walk in the beautiful residential area near the club grounds.

On arrival, each dog received a fabulous goodie bag filled with special treats and freebies sponsored by various pet industry forerunners.

Tanith King of The Sunflower Fund and Michelle Mostert of Village Veterinary Clinic, gave a talk on the respective work that they do.

Debbie Muller of Cute Marketing Solutions shared her knowledge and experience on the importance of pet care. Natal Mobile Audio’s Anthony Done provided plenty of entertainment and there awesome prize giveaways including a wonderful raffle prize hamper giveaway from Village Veterinary Clinic.

A prize was awarded to the Sunflower Doggy of the Day “Skyler Rose”, owned by Matthew Grant. A special prize was awarded to Lena owned by Leigh Baxendale for her courage and spunk being a physically challenged dog with three legs.

Funds raised from the event will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness, as well as educate and recruit more blood stem cell donors to increase the number of people registered on the South African Bone Marrow Registry.

The more donors on the registry means greater hope for patients diagnosed with chronic blood disorders, like leukaemia, who are in need of a live-saving blood stem cell transplant from a matching donor.

The Sunflower Fund in KZN wishes to thank all major and co-sponsors including the Village Veterinary Clinic, Petwise, Kloof Country Club, Cute Marketing Solutions, Netcare 911 and all other partners and participants who helped make this event a success.

For more information on becoming a blood stem cell donor, contact The Sunflower Fund’s toll-free number on 0800 12 10 82 or visit www.sunflowerfund.org.za - Supplied.
