GUESTS came in numbers when author Gideon Cebekhulu recently launched his book, The greatest life-changing testimony Gave a child after 14 years of marriage.

He said writing a book became a reality in September last year.

“At first I wanted another author to write this book, but unfortunately I couldn't find one. The idea of writing this book came to life in September last year.”

The book, he said, tells of his childhood and his life up until today.

“The highlight of my book [and life] is the fact that my wife fell pregnant after 14 years of marriage. We were married in 1995, but couldn't fall pregnant. We went to several medical and traditional doctors seeking help. We did everything and anything to start a family, but all plans failed. The doctors told us our situation is different because with all the treatment we received my wife should have been pregnant.

“After several attempts we thought we would never have a child, however that changed one Sunday at His Goodness and Mercy Church when the pastor prophesied over my wife and I. A few months later we were blessed when my wife fell pregnant. We believe it was God's plan. He was the one who provided us with the child.”

Cebekhulu said seeing his daughter for the first time was an unexplainable feeling. “I had mixed emotions - I was happy and overwhelmed. I was there when she was born and clearly remember that day because I cried. Whenever I look at my daughter I see God's work.”

He said it took him two months to write the book.

“It is unbelievable as I had to focus mostly on writing this book. It was meant to be a surprise for my wife however, I had to tell her because the publishers had to get her approval since she was mentioned in a chapter and I used our wedding photo as the cover.”

Besides writing, Cebekhulu also loves spending time with his family, going to church and helping disadvantaged people. “At the moment I have found a new hobby - learning to play a keyboard - and I'm enjoying it.

His message to the youth: “To seek God first and He will show you the purpose in life and the blessing you receive will be rewarding.”
