FOR their annual fund-raising event, the Guild of St Mary’s Old Girls hosted an evening of wining and dining.

The French Bistro event was held at Bellevue Café, and despite the cold weather, the atmosphere was fun and festive.

Guests were treated to French food prepared by Chef Chris Black, paired with excellent wines selected by Jan-Nico Coetzee of Meander Fine Wines.

Silent auctions of amazing sponsored prizes, great music by DJ Clynt Lund and visuals by Black Coffee, added to an unforgettable evening.

An incredible R110 000 was raised, which will be used to build the St Mary’s Foundation Trust, whilst a percentage will be donated to the Inanda Soup Kitchen.

The St Mary’s Foundation Trust was created for the sole purpose of advancing the interests of St Mary’s to be an everlasting school.

Its goal is to create a capital fund with the interest earned being used to transform lives through the provision of financial support. The foundation would like to grow this programme, so that it can assist more girls in the years to come.

The Inanda Soup Kitchen (NPO 121-981) will be receiving a portion of the funds raised. Based next to a church near Inanda Dam, the soup kitchen runs every Wednesday, providing between 150 and 180 children with a much needed hot meal after school. The donation will enable the non-profit organisation to buy fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and grains to continue providing nourishment to these children.

The foundation thanked the main sponsors of the evening, Setzkorn Health and Wealth Consulting and Whispering Waters Resort, and other sponsors, Lipsano lip care and SoHot solar heating, bfor Mobile, Rovos Rail, White Pearl Resorts, MSC Shipping, Victoria Verbaan and Le Creuset. “The evening would not have been made possible without their generous support,” said a spokesperson.
