DOMESTIC workers are South Africa’s unsung heroines in many homes.

They are the housekeepers, they take care of basic home maintenance, they often do the cooking, they become second mothers to the children, some do the gardening, and they often play a vital role in making sure that everything runs perfectly on the domestic home front.

Hirsch’s have acknowledged these stalwarts and regularly hold a “domestic worker of the month” competition.

The monthly winner receives a R300 Hirsch’s voucher and a certificate.

Their names are also entered into the “Domestic Worker of the Year” award and they stand a chance of winning a prize worth R5 000.

The competition ends at the beginning of December, where a grand finale will be held to award the domestic worker of the year.

If you would like to nominate your domestic worker for the monthly competition, send a 100-word motivation on why they deserve the prize.

Email your entry to Hirsch’s PRO, Taryn Taylor tarynt@hirschs.co.za - Supplied.

How much food do you need to concentrate?

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
