THE Baby Hope House, a place of safety for vulnerable children, recently launched an initiative - Adopt A Cot. Baby Hope House chairperson Vernon Scott said the initiative was established to assist abandoned babies.
“The aim is to get businesses, companies and private individuals to Adopt A Cot for three months, either with a half adoption of R1 500 or a full adoption for R3 000. The companies that adopt a cot will have their logo placed on the cot and will be able to visit Baby Hope House by appointment.

“The reason we launched Adopt A Cot is that running a home like this costs money and the government only helps with a few hundred rand per child per month.
“With the amount of nappies, food, formula and medical bills that is needed to sustain our precious babies, we need help. We feel that Adopt A Cot would be the perfect vehicle to help with the running costs and a way for business and private individuals to become involved in the wonderful work this home does for these abandoned babies.”

Lynne Pieterse, one of the founders, said Baby Hope House seeks to recognise, and within reason, provide for each child's specific needs.
“We affirm that children are loved and celebrated and placed with ‘forever’ families. Baby Hope House is a place of rekindled hope for all the children, parents and volunteers.”

Baby Hope House requires financial assistance to help cover food, healthcare, staff, utilities and amenities.

“When signing up to Adopt A Cot, that particular company will be sponsoring one of Baby Hope House’s cots and its funding will go towards the care of the child who is allocated the cot.
“Should the donors wish to interact with the child then arrangements can be made to do so by contacting the home for a suitable date and time.”

Baby Hope House needs requires Sangenic Tommee Tippee nappy bin liners (available from Baby City), Angelcare nappy bin liners (available from Baby City); wet wipes, tissues, nappies, Purity juice, Purity vegetables, stages one to toddler, Purity fruit, stages one to toddlers, volunteers, Nespray, Infacare 2 and Similac 2, Panado red for babies, Stilpayne, Calpol, Prospan, Allergex Prodol, Infacare Soya 1 and Infacare Soya 2.
