THE Guild of St Mary’s Old Girls hosted a fund-raising evening of wining and dining at the Irish Gastro Pub, last weekend at Bellevue Café.

St Mary’s parents, Old Girls, friends and family were greeted with sparkling wine and Irish jigs, courtesy of Dylan Arslanian on violin.

There were a host of giveaways, raffles and a silent auction was held throughout the evening, adding to the fun-filled festivities.

The wine and craft beer selections were perfectly paired with the food by Jan-Nico Coetzee of Meander Fine Wines and That Brewing Company.

A hearty Irish spread and great music warmed up the chilly evening as guests danced the night away.

Over R90 000 was raised, which will go towards the beneficiaries, the St Mary’s Trust Foundation and The Inanda Soup Kitchen NPO 121-981.

The soup kitchen, next to a church near Inanda Dam, runs every Wednesday, and was started by St Mary’s Old Girl, Robyn o’Donovan. She provides a much-needed hot meal to between 150 and 180 children after school, costing about R400 a week and the donation will go a long way to filling the tummies of young eager minds.

The St Mary’s Foundation was created for the sole purpose of advancing the interests of St Mary’s to be an everlasting school.

Its goal is to create a capital fund with the interest earned being used to transform lives through the provision of financial support.

The foundation would like to grow this programme so it can assist more girls in the years to come.

Thank you to the sponsors of the evening, Setzkorn Health, Wealth Consulting, Lipsano Lip Care and Whispering Waters Resort, and to the sponsors of prizes, auction items and raffles - For Mobile, Audio Architex and Victoria Verbaan for her artwork. - Supplied.
