QASHANA Khuzwayo Library in Thusong Centre was officially opened in 1997.
The library provides various services, including the borrowing of books, magazines, AV materials such as DVDs and CDs, photocopying, study area, newspapers, internet and discussion room.

Qashana Khuzwayo spokesperson Bongani Hlela said: “When the library was opened there was only one librarian, two library assistants, one part-time staff member, one cleaner and a security.
“Today this library has one librarian, five library assistants and one cyber staff who assists patrons with the internet. It had 2 500 membership in the beginning, now that has risen to 14 000.
The monthly statistics were 800, and has
now increased to between 3 500 and 5 000 a month.”

The library also hosts activities during the year - Library Week, which is held every March, the Bookworm Club aimed at promoting reading and improving vocabulary, quiz games, story­-telling, spelling bee, creative writing competition, holiday programmes during school holidays and block loans to schools and pre-schools.

Library membership is free. To join a person needs to bring an original bar-coded ID and proof of address.
If the person is a pupil they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who can provide proof of residence, and they must sign the consent form.

Qhashana Khuzwayo Library opens on Monday from 10am to 6pm, Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturdays from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
