Local business keeps Villagers rugby team fit with challenge

2016-12-13 06:01

THE Land Rover Durban Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club would like to thank local business Getfit Hillcrest for helping the rugby players stay fit in its off season and preparing players for the season ahead.

Getfit Hillcrest has recently moved to the Oxford Village and they are enjoying their new premises. Getfit Hillcrest offers the original Getfit 12 week challenge and a state of the art fitness centre with a fully functional gym.

They have sponsored two, three week challenges for players and coaches. The first challenge kicked of last week and Hillcrest Villagers would like to wish the players all the best over the next two weeks as they get through this first challenge.

Head coach Mike de Kock said: “The Getfit sponsorship has played a tremendous role in our conditioning for the 2017 season. With an eye on winning the league and gaining promotion to the Premier Division, our preparation has been the best I have ever witnessed at Hillcrest Villagers. Not only are the guys working really hard, and pushing their mental and physical boundaries, but there is a good vibe and ‘gees’ growing between the players.

“The benefit to starting our pre-season this early, is that it will give us ample time to get our game structures in place and improve our skill levels, so that by the time we have the first kick off, we are fully prepared. Having some sort of base fitness will also ensure the quality of our field sessions are up to scratch, which will allow us to set ourselves a very high standard,” he said.

He went on to add that the club is only able to grow at the strides that it does with the help and generosity of local businesses. “The continued support from our local community is greatly appreciated.

“Follow us on Facebook to watch the progress of our players as they make their way through this stay fit challenge and for Getfit specials for all our supporters,” he added.
