COMPASS Cares is a voluntary organisation started by Compass Medical Waste Services (Pty) Ltd in 2009. Over the years Compass Cares has partnered with a number of non-profit organisations in order to make a difference in the lives of people and animals in need.

Compass supports the Domino Foundation’s Red Light Programme and iThemba Projects through their association with The Light Trust.

iThemba Projects reaches out to the impoverished community in Sweetwaters, an area in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
Here child-headed households are common and HIV / Aids is prevalent. They care for and support vulnerable children and give them an opportunity to grow and learn through well managed Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres.

The Domino Foundation believe that through changing one life, they can change a community. The Red Light Programme falls under the Domino Foundation and their mission is to reach out, restore and release survivors of exploitation and human trafficking.

Cats of Durban, an NPO established two years ago, aims to follow the worldwide trend of trapping, neutering and releasing feral cats with their overriding goal being to sterilise 15 000 cats over the next five years. Compass Cares supports Cats of Durban through the sale of their A3 wall calendar which features gorgeous photos of stray, feral and previously abandoned cats.

Compass has been supporting CROW for the past eight years and through the sale of their A2 wildlife calendar has donated R915 000 to assist CROW with the rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned and injured wild animals.

The Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust recently received a cheque for R72 000 from Compass for their ‘Adopt-a-Bed’ campaign. These funds will help to provide the very best care and treatment to the Centre’s respite unit patients so that they, in turn, have the very best chance of returning home to their families and leading full, healthy and productive lives.
