HILLCREST police arrested a 23-year-old man for rape at KwaNgcolosi Reserve in Hillcrest last week.

According to Hillcrest SAPS communications officer Constable N. Manqele, it is alleged that on Tuesday 25 August, 2015 at 5pm, an 11-year-old girl was on her way to a shop to buy electricity when she was approached by the man who asked her to chat.

“The girl informed the man that she was in a hurry, however, on the way back from the shop the man grabbed her and pulled her into the bushes,” said Manqele.

“The girl screamed, but was scared as the man told her he was going to kill her if she continued screaming. He then instructed her to take off her clothes and he raped her.”

A case of rape was reported to Hillcrest police station for further investigations and the docket was allocated to FCS unit in Pinetown to take the investigation over.

After intensive investigations and a tip-off to the police, the man was arrested. He will be charged and he will appear in Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon. - Supplied.
